e-Swathu Form 9

Obtaining Form 9 - the gram panchayat's assessment register entry proving a rural property is assessed for tax.

What is this service?

SRCHN.PROPERTY searches the property on e-Swathu, downloads the digitised Form 9 where available, or files the application with the panchayat where the property is not yet assessed, and verifies the entry against the deed.

Form 9 is the gram panchayat equivalent of the urban Khatha certificate: it records the property in the panchayat's assessment register and is issued only for properties that are not unauthorised. It is required for sale, loans, electricity and water connections, and building licences in panchayat areas. Digitised Form 9 entries can be searched and downloaded on e-Swathu.

Why and when you need it

Why
No bank lends against, and no registrar encourages registration of, a panchayat property without Form 9. Properties without it are treated as unassessed.

When
Before sale, loan, utility connection or building licence in a panchayat area.
